Inter Milan are set to miss out on the signing of Lille defender Tiago Djalo, who’s on the verge of joining Juventus.

This according to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, via FCInterNews. Sky reports that the Portuguese is now discussing contract details with the Bianconeri.

For the past several weeks, Inter have been working to secure an agreement with Djalo on a summer free transfer.

The Nerazzurri have been keen on the 23-year-old as a target for a while.

And the fact that Djalo’s contract with Lille expires at the end of June has marked him out as a free transfer opportunity for the summer.

Inter’s penchant for hunting free transfer signings is no great secret.

So the Nerazzurri have been in active contact with Djalo’s representatives for months. And the player has given his assent to the move.

But Juventus have come onto the scene. And the Bianconeri look to have just about won the battle for Djalo’s signature.

Inter Miss Out On Tiago Djalo – Juventus Closing In

A key factor has been Lille’s desire not to lose Djalo on a free transfer.

The Ligue 1 side have been aiming to cash in on the young defender while they have the chance this month.

That is in contrast to Inter’s strategy. The Nerazzurri have only been planning to sign Djalo on a free transfer in six months’ time, when his contract with Lille runs out.

Therefore, the French side have made clear to top clubs around Europe that they will accept a relatively low offer for Djalo this month.

And the Bianconeri have taken the opportunity to swoop.

Juventus made an offer worth around €3 million plus add-ons. Lille have accepted this bid.

The Bianconeri have still had to convince the player.

But according to Sky, Djalo has decided to accept a move to Juventus.

Now, the defender’s representatives are in talks with the Bianconeri regarding the personal terms for the move. They are working out the final details of a contract for the 23-year-old.

Therefore, it should only be a matter of time before Djalo becomes a Juventus player.
