Italian journalist Riccardo Trevisani believes Inter Milan need to sign a new attacker during the winter transfer session.

The Serie A giants overhauled almost the entire department during the summer transfer market, with club captain Lautaro Martinez being the sole survivor from last season.

Belgium international Romelu Lukaku left the club under controversial circumstances and ended up joining AS Roma on loan from Chelsea. Edin Dzeko signed for Fenerbahce on a free transfer while Joaquin Correa completed a loan switch to Olympique Marseille.

The Nerazzurri made up for these departures by signing Marcus Thuram on a free transfer from Borussia Monchengladbach and bringing back veterans Alexis Sanchez and Marko Arnautovic for second stints.

The France international striker has since formed a brilliant striking partnership with Martinez.

However, neither Sanchez nor Arnautovic have been faring well when called up to replace the starting duo.

The Chilean has been suffering from recurring physical issues that have limited his playing. Meanwhile, the Austrian bomber has been wasteful in front of goal.

Therefore, Trvisani argues that the Beneamata could use a newcomer who can bolster Simone Inzaghi’s attacking ranks.

The TV presenter felt that the club’s most recent outing against Hellas Verona has exposed their deficiency in attack.

“We saw it with Verona in an unequivocal way. The difference in level between the starters and their backups is gigantic,” claimed Trevisani during his appearance on Canale 5 via FcInter1908.

Martinez broke the deadlock early on but Thomas Henry stunned the San Siro crowd by producing the equalizer in the second half.

Nonetheless, Davide Frattesi pulled off the winner in injury time, while Henry failed to snatch a point for the Gialloblu after missing a last-gasp spot-kick.

Italian Journalist Riccardo Trevisani Argues Why Inter Milan Should Get A New Striker In January

But despite the win, the Italian journalist still urges the Nerazzurri to buy a new attacker. He feels the squad would be better off with a new striker who replaces Sanchez.

“if Inter sign a striker they would certainly be better off.

“If Sanchez leaves again and someone arrives, it would work well. In my opinion there is a need to intervene.”

Trevisani also discussed the title race between Inter and their arch-rivals Juventus.

Both clubs registered hard-fought wins over the weekend, which kept the two-point gap intact. While Inter remain the odds-on favorites to clinch the Scudetto title according to the best crypto betting sites, Juventus are making them sweat to maintain their lead.

The journalist states that both clubs have exceeded his expectations in terms of points recorded at the half-way point of the season.

“They both have more points than I expected. Juve earned a tough win in Salerno but this is your typical Juventus match.”

Finally, Trevisani doesn’t believe that Inter Milan CEO Beppe Marotta is the ultimate reason behind the club’s success.

“At Juve, Marotta also won thanks to Ronaldo, Allegri and Conte. Now Inter aren’t first only thanks to Beppe. The club has excellent players on the pitch as well.”
