Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi has never had a stronger second half of a season than first.

This is highlighted in today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews.

Things could not have gone much more positively for Inter in Serie A than they did over the first half of the ongoing campaign.

The Nerazzurri have amassed 48 points. That has the team on track for 46 if they keep up their current pace.

But that’s a big “if”.

There were a few slip-ups over the first half of the season. But these were largely overshadowed by the sheer number of good performances and results.

Inter scored 44 goals and conceded just nine. There were a total of twelve clean sheets for Nerazzurri keeper Yann Sommer.

That means that the Swiss had to pick the ball out of his out net in just seven league matches.

Inzaghi Has Never Had A Better Second Half Of A Serie A Season Than First

In a sense, Inter and Inzaghi have been here before, though.

Last season the Nerazzurri endured a fairly tough first few months of the campaign.

But in the 2021-22 season – the ex-Lazio coach’s first in charge – Inter were positively flying at this stage. That campaign, Inter were on 46 points after nineteen matches.

But some hiccups in the spring saw Inter take 38 points over the second half of the season.

It was a similar story at times at Lazio.

The Biancocelesti often enjoyed an explosive start to the season.

During the 2019-20 season, Inzaghi even had the club from the Italian capital looking like credible contenders for the Serie A title.

But the best second half to a season the coach ever had at the Stadio Olimpico was 34 points.

Now, Inzaghi’s test will be to see if he can avoid this drop-off this time around.
