Italian journalist Riccardo Trevisani believes that Hellas Verona midfielder took a dive when Inter Milan defender Alessandro Bastoni challenged him.

The journalist spoke to Chronichie di Spogliatoio, via FCInter1908, weighing in on the persistent controversy surrounding the recent Serie A clash.

Inter’s late winner against Verona over the weekend stood. But in the eyes of many, it shouldn’t have.

The controversy has been lingering since the match.

The reason for this is not the goal itself, courtesy of midfielder Davide Frattesi.

Rather, there have been suggestions that Bastoni had committed a foul by shoving Duda in the buildup to the goal.

But in the view of journalist Trevisani, there was actually little in it.

The journalist feels that the Inter player had not committed a foul, whilst the Verona one made the most of the contact.

Trevisani: Duda Dived On Bastoni Challenge In Inter Vs Verona

Trevisani said that “Clearly that the goal in the ninetieth minute created hysteria. But we need to give things their proper weight.”

“Bisseck’s foul on the goal in Genoa is much more serious,” he continued. “There’s no simulation by the opponent, which was the case with Duda.”

“Duda takes a total dive,” Trevisani said. “And it’s an action that has little to do with the goal.”

Trevisani suggested that “If Inter were 1-0 up, then Duda would not have gone down.”

“And for those who talk about a conspiracy, then why isn’t a foul given for the challenge on Arnautovic that leads to the counterattack and equalizer?”

“And then today, I heard some of the most ridiculous bullsh*t I’ve ever heard,” Trevisani said. “That this was the worst error in the history of VAR!”

“I remember the Candreva incident in Juve – Salernitana. I remember Ronaldo with a shocking kick to the face of Cragno.”

“Then there’s Illing-Junior on Ndoye,” he noted. “And what about Ranocchia on Belotti?”
