A report in the Italian media explains how the characteristics of Porto striker Mehdi Taremi render him the perfect addition to Inter Milan.

The Serie A leaders are looking to sign the Iran international in the summer on a free transfer. His contract with the Portuguese giants will expire at the end of the season.

The Nerazzurri had already attempted to lure him to Appiano Gentile last summer but the deal never materialized. They ended up signing Marko Arnautovic and Alexis Sanchez instead, but neither has been winning the plaudits this season.

Therefore, Inter remain keen on adding Taremi to the fold, and Tuttosport (via FcInterNews) underlines the traits that make him perfectly suited to the role.

The Turin-based newspaper describes the 31-year-old as a mixture of Romelu Lukaku and Edin Dzeko as he combines physical and technical attributes. Both strikers left Inter in the summer.

The source adds that Taremi primarily plays as a centre-forward, but he can also feature as a second striker. He had even played as a left winger in a 4-2-3-1 formation in the past.

Why Mehdi Taremi Is The Right Profile To Join Inter Milan

Statistically, the Iranian registered 74% successful passes over the past four years at Porto. He won 48% of his aerial and ground duels and 48% of his attempted dribbles.

In 171 appearances for the Dragons, he recorded 86 goals and 53 assists.

This season, Taremi’s stats regressed, as he only contributed with six goals and four assists in 24 outings across all competitions.

But as the source tells it, the collapse of his move last summer may have taken its toll on his mood.
