Inter Milan wingback Carlos Augusto feels that it will be extremely significant to beat Monza going into the Supercoppa Italiana.

The Brazilian spoke to InterTV ahead of this evening’s Serie A match, via FCInterNews.

Inter return to Serie A action this evening.

The Nerazzurri will want to follow up their victory over Hellas Verona last weekend with another win.

But then, there will be the Supercoppa Italiana.

Inter qualified for the competition as last season’s Coppa Italia winners.

That means that there will be at one match in the competition for Inter. The Nerazzurri will face Lazio in the semifinal on Friday.

Then, if the Nerazzurri progress ahead of the Biancocelesti, there will be the final against either Napoli or Fiorentina.

As such, Inter will want the momentum from a victory in the league going into that.

Moreover, the Nerazzurri know that Juventus will play twice in the meantime.

If Inter fail to take three points this evening, it could give the Bianconeri the chance to build up a real advantage in the table ahead of the direct meeting between the two teams at the top of the table at the start of next month.

Carlos Augusto: Vital For Inter To Beat Monza Ahead Of Supercoppa Italiana

“We hope to have a good match,” Augusto said.

“We want to do as well as we did during the first half of the season,” he continued.

The 25-year-old Brazilian international noted that “We know that we have the Supercoppa after, and so we have to win because Juventus will have more matches than we do.”

“We have to go out and do well today,” Augusto said.

Augusto noted that “We analyzed them.”

“We know that Monza have a lot of movement. They like to have a lot of the ball.”

“We have to play our game,” the Inter wingback said.

“It’s always nice to come back here,” said Augusto, who joined Inter from the Brianzoli last summer.

“I’m happy. I owe a lot to them.”

He added that “It’s a pleasure for me to see my friends, the staff, and Galliani.”
