Inter Milan midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu believes that he is playing as the best possible version of himself right now.

The Turkish international spoke to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, via FCInterNews, after the Nerazzurri’s 5-1 Serie A win over Monza.

Calhanoglu certainly gave a clear demonstration of his value to Inter with his performance against Monza this evening.

The 29-year-old scored two of Inter’s goals. One from the penalty spot, and one from open play.

Beyond that, Calhanoglu was the player pulling the strings in midfield for Inter all match.

By now, that is a familiar sight. The former AC Milan man has fully settled into his role at the base of midfield.

Calhanglu has found the best use of his qualities playing in the regista role.

And for his part, the midfielder feels that he has never hit this sort of level before.

Hakan Calhanoglu: This Is The Best Version Of Me

“I’ve grown,” Calhanoglu said when asked whether this is the best version of me.

“I really like playing in this role.”

“I’ll always give my all for the team,” the Turk added.

Calhanoglu said that the team gave “The right response,” against Monza.

“Matches like the one against Verona can happen,” he continued.

“The important thing is to always focus on the next matches.”

Calhanoglu gave the view that “We started well. In the first twenty minutes we showed that we’re right where we want to be and we want to win.”

And as far as what this evening’s win means in the title race against Juventus, the 29-year-old didn’t want to speculate too much.

“I don’t focus on the other teams,” he said. “We just focus on ourselves.”

Calhanoglu continued that “We will always try to improve by winning games like this.”

“Monza have quality players,” he added. “But if we play like this it will be difficult to beat us.”
