Striker Taty Castellanos will be missing through injury for Lazio in Friday’s Supercoppa Italiana match against Inter Milan, but Ciro Immobile could return.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews.

Striker Castellanos has been finding form for Lazio in recent weeks.

The former New York City FC and Girona striker joined the Biancocelesti during the summer transfer window.

Castellanos came in as a backup for Italian international Immobile.

Immobile remains a key player for Maurizio Sarri’s team. The 33-year-old is Lazio’s all-time top scorer, as well as the highest-scoring currently active player in Serie A.

But now in his mid-thirties, Immobile has shown a few signs of slowing down.

Therefore, Castllenos has come in to provide some competition and allow Lazio captain Immobile some time to rest.

Taty Castellanos Out For Lazio Vs Inter – Ciro Immobile Could Return

At the start of the season, it was still Immobile who was firmly in place as the first-choice starter for Lazio.

Castellanos’s early performances did not necessarily live up to the high price tag that the Biancocelesti paid for him.

But the Argentine has really started to fit into Sarri’s system in recent weeks.

Castellanos offers a different sort of option compared to Immobile. He has linked up the play effectively in recent performances.

Immobile has been missing through a hamstring injury, which has meant that Castellanos has started in the captain’s place.

But Immobile’s absence has not really been felt. Castellanos helped Lazio to wins against Udinese in Serie A and Roma in a Coppa Italia derby,

However, now it is the 25-year-old who will be out injured.

Castellanos picked up an adductor problem. This will keep him out for around two weeks.

That means that the Argentine will miss out on Friday’s Supercoppa Italiana semifinal match against Inter. He would also be absent from the final, should Lazio reach that far.

On the other hand, it could be Immobile returning to lead the line.

The Gazzetta report that the Italian international has a good chance of being back from his hamstring injury.
