Max Allegri feels that Inter Milan are the favourites for the Serie A title, even if Juventus go top of the table for the time being.

The Bianconeri coach spoke to Italian broadcaster RAI Radio, via FCInterNews.

At the moment, Inter are ahead of Juventus in the Serie A table. But it is just a two-point gap.

That means that the Nerazzurri know that there is virtually no margin for error.

It also means that Juventus have the chance to not just catch up, but go ahead of Inter, at least temporarily, in the next week or so.

That is because Inter are in Saudi Arabia for the time being.

The Nerazzurri are playing in the Supercoppa Italiana over the next few days. That means that they will postpone their league clash with Atalanta.

Therefore, if Juventus are to win their upcoming matches against Lecce and Empoli, they will temporarily go top of the table. Regardless of what happens in Inter’s next match, away to Fiorentina.

Inter will of course have the chance to regain top spot. But they certainly found out that points can’t be taken for granted from a game in hand two years ago.

Moreover, there would be more psychological pressure on the upcoming head-to-head match with the Bianconeri.

Allegri: Inter Favourites Even If Suning Go Top Of Table

“Going ahead of Inter now means nothing,” Allegri said.

“They remain the favourites for the title,” he continued.

“We have to just focus on Lecce,” the Juventus coach said. “We have to take it one step at a time, thinking about our next match, and not what the final objective will be.”

And then Allegri also gave his thoughts on the sacking of Jose Mourinho by Roma.

“I’m very sorry to see it,” he said.

“Because he is one of the best coaches around.”

Allegri said that “These things happen. I think he did a great job in Rome.”
