Former Nerazzurri midfielder Stephan Dalmat believes that it’s necessary for Inter Milan to sign a striker this month.
Speaking to Italian news outlet News.Superscomesse, the Frenchman also suggested that the Nerazzurri won’t miss out too much from Juventus signing defender Tiago Djalo.
Inter have already made one major signing during the January transfer window.
Wingback Tajon Buchanan arrived from Club Brugge.
But the Nerazzurri could still have the opportunity to further bolster their squad over the next couple of weeks.
The area where the rumours have suggested that Inter could look to intervene is in attack.
This is because of the perceived inadequacy of the current option.
The two first-choice strikers are hardly in question. Both of Lautaro Martinez and Marcus Thuram have been in blazing form for much of the current season.
However, behind the pair, Marko Arnautovic and Alexis Sanchez have struggled for goals.
And in the view of former Inter midfielder Dalmat, it’s clear. The Nerazzurri should intervene in the transfer market to improve the strength in depth in attack.
Dalmat: Inter Must Sign A Striker During January Transfer Window
Former Nerazzurri midfielder Dalmat was clear. “Inter must intervene in the transfer market to improve the attack,” he said.
“The Nerazzurri are reliant on Lautaro Martinez and Thuram,” he continued.
“But the backups are not up to par.”
Dalmat argued that “Arnautovic and Sanchez can help in some situations. Especially by taking advantage of their experience.”
“But they aren’t decisive like the starting strike pair.”
And Dalmat also suggested that “I don’t think Djalo will be a regret. Particularly not at the moment.”
The Frenchman also gave his thoughts on the Serie A title race.
“The way Inter play is of a higher quality than Juventus,” he said.
“I believe that the Nerazzurri are the clear favourites to win the Scudetto,” Dalmar continued.
He predicted that “Allegri’s team won’t give up until the end.”
“And it will certainly be an exciting head-to-head race.”
“There’s also the fact that Inter’s European commitments will take away some of their energy,” Dalmat noted.
“The Nerazzurri’s main objective, however, is undoubtedly the Scudetto.”
