Legendary former AC Milan coach Arrigo Sacchi expects that the Serie A title race between Inter Milan and Juventus will go the distance.
Sacchi spoke to Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport in an interview published in today’s print edition, via FCInterNews.
After Juventus’s Serie A win over Sassuolo, the gap between the Bianconeri and Inter at the top of the table is once again back to just two points.
That has been the situation for much of the past couple weeks.
The Nerazzurri and the Bianconeri have already met once in the league. They played out a tense 1-1 draw at the Allianz Stadium at the end of November.
And at the beginning of February, the two teams will play their second Serie A match of the season.
That match could very well be decisive for the outcome of the title race.
But one way or the other, the gap between the two sides doesn’t look as though it’s going to widen any time soon.
Sacchi: Inter Vs Juventus Title Race To Go The Distance
“The impression I get is that these two teams will be going head-to-head for quite a while longer,” Sacchi said.
“Also because these are the two clubs to have spent the most in the transfer market,” he continued. “They have the most competitive squads.”
“And logic generally dictates that that is the way to win,” the former coach said.
Sacchi argued that “I can’t really say which of the two will win, because I’m not a fortune teller.”
“And because I want to enjoy this long run-in between the two, like two cyclists in the final leg of a race.”
“Maybe the head-to-head match between Inter and Juventus on February 4 could change the balance somewhat,” Sacchi suggested.
“But it won’t decide the eventual outcome of the entire title race.”
