Marcus Thuram has won plaudits for the impact that he’s made since his arrival at Inter Milan last summer.
Today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, particularly highlight the 26-year-old’s performances in big matches and how he’s gotten the best out Lautaro Martinez.
Inter take on Lazio in the Supercoppa Italiana semifinal tomorrow.
And should they reach the final, the Nerazzurri will meet either Napoli or Fiorentina.
And Inter have reason to be confident that they can find the back of the net against any of those three teams. Because Thuram has already scored against all three.
The Frenchman scored got on the scoresheet in his first Serie A matches against all of the Biancocelesti, the Partenopei, and La Viola.
This is no mean feat. The trio are among the strongest teams in the Italian top flight.
But Thuram has already made scoring against big sides a habit for Inter.
The former Borussia Monchengladbach striker has also scored in his first ever Milan derby. And he has scored the decisive goals in 1-0 wins against Benfica and Roma.
Marcus Thuram Hailed For Impact At Inter
If there were perhaps expectations that Thuram would need to adapt and find form after his summer move to Inter on a free transfer, he has defied them.
The Frenchman just seems to relish the big stage.
And the Supercoppa Italiana could prove to be the best opportunity yet for Thuram to show that. The 26-year-old could get his hands on his first piece of silverware as a Nerazzurri player.
And the Gazzetta also note that Thuram has had a very positive effect on the form of Lautaro Martinez.
Like Thuram, the Argentine has scored against all of Lazio, Napoli, and Fiorentina already this season.
Martinez has found the back of the net eighteen times in Serie A, and twenty in all competitions.
Martinez was already a prolific scorer playing with strike partners like Romelu Lukaku and Edin Dzeko.
But it is Thuram who seems to have really unlocked another gear in front of goal for Martinez.
