Former Inter Milan captain Andrea Ranocchia feels his former club excels in cup ties ahead of the encounter against Lazio.

The Nerazzurri are taking on the capital side in the semi-final of the first-ever expanded edition of the Italian Super Cup.

Whoever emerges victorious at Al-Awwal Stadium in Riyadh will advance to the final to take on Napoli on Monday. The Partenopei booked their spot by beating Fiorentina 3-0 last night.

With four Italian Super Cups, three Coppa Italia trophies and a Champions League final on his resume, Inter coach Simone Inzaghi has cemented himself as a cup expert.

But in addition to the manager’s prowess, Ranocchia also believes that the Nerazzurri possess vital experience in the squad.

“Inzaghi is enjoying a solid run. He also has mature players who have been in great form since his arrival,” said the 35-year-old during his pre-match appearance on Sport Mediaset via FcInterNews.

“They are players prepared for one-off matches. They excel in these situations.

“However, Lazio is a great team. We certainly have a good match ahead of us because they are two offensive sides.”
