Forward Alexis Sanchez is still planning to stay at Inter Milan for the rest of the season.

This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews, who report that the Chilean will not leave the Nerazzurri during the January transfer window.

When Sanchez re-joined Inter last summer, it was always clear that he was coming in as a squad player.

With Lautaro Martinez already the team’s star man in attack and Marcus Thuram also arriving, Sanchez was a player Inter signed to add some experience and proven quality.

The 34-year-old knew the surroundings well, having spent three years as an Inter player previously.

And there had been plenty of positive moments for Sanchez the first go around.

The former Arsenal, Manchester United, and Barcelona forward had made 109 appearances and scored twenty goals during the 2019-20, 2020-21, and 2021-22 seasons.

And in his season away at Marseille, Sanchez had bagged an eye-watering eighteen goals.

Alexis Sanchez Still Planning To Stay At Inter

There were also some troubles for Sanchez at Inter, though.

Particularly in his final season, the Chilean had a couple social media outbursts about his lack of playing time.

Sanchez admitted that he felt “like a lion in a cage” when he didn’t play after he netted a memorable late winner against Juventus in the 2022 Supercoppa Italiana.

That precedent might mean one or two suggestions that it would be the same story this time around.

Sanchez is a relatively peripheral figure in the team.

The 34-year-old has yet to score in Serie A. He’s found the back of the net twice in the Champions League.

But Sanchez still believes that he can make his contribution over the second half of the season.

The former Arsenal forward did come off the bench against Lazio in the Supercoppa Italiana yesterday.

There is still no plan from Sanchez to leave Inter before the end of the campaign.
