Former Nerazzurri CEO Ernesto Paolillo is not a fan of the snub from Napoli coach Walter Mazzarri for Inter Milan after the Supercoppa Italiana.

The former executive spoke to Italian broadcaster Radio Punto Nuovo, via FCInterNews. He also criticized the refereeing of the Supercoppa final.

Napoli coach Walter Mazzarri didn’t hide his feelings during yesterday’s Supercoppa final.

The Partenopei boss vented his frustration at a number of decisions from the referees.

These included what Mazzarri saw as lenient refereeing on Inter players during the first half. And then, during the second, he was furious with the sending-off of Napoli striker Giovanni Simeone.

Mazzarri eventually became so angry that he decided not to attend the trophy ceremony.

This snub left no doubt as to how the coach felt about the match.

And in the view of former Inter CEO Paolillo, it was a disrespectful and inappropriate decision.

Paolillo Hits Out At Walter Mazzarri Over Inter Supercoppa Snub

“I didn’t appreciate the fact that he snubbed the awards ceremony,” Paolillo said.

“It’s a lack of respect towards the opponents, towards the fans, and even towards his own players.”

“He’d already left before the final whistle,” Paolillo said of Mazzarri.

“And then we complain about how controversial and polarized our football. At least De Laurentiis did better with how he intervened in the end.”

And Paolillo continued by criticizing the refereeing by Antonio Rapuano.

He argued that “There were some big problems with the final. Above all, the refereeing.”

“The two teams put on a real spectacle with the level of play,” he went on. “While the referees did not.”

“The Supercoppa final should have been entrusted to an expert referee,” Paolillo argued.

“Not a promising one.”

The former Inter CEO suggested that “It should’ve been someone with experience and a strong demeanour. You need to understand the right weight for cards in that position.”

“I’m sorry that the technical gap was exacerbated by the referee’s decisions and by the many players Napoli had out.”
