Inter Milan midfielder Stefano Sensi will not complete a transfer to Leicester City just yet due to suspensions to Nerazzurri do Hakan Calhanoglu and Nicolo Barella.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews.

Sensi’s move to Leicester has looked to be all systems go for a couple days now.

The Foxes have made the 28-year-old former Sassuolo midfielder a priority target.

And both Inter and Sensi have all but agreed terms on the move. Reports have suggested that the decisive meeting to seal the transfer would be soon.

In fact, Inter had planned to hold talks with Leicester right after returning from Saudi Arabia, where they had been playing in the Supercoppa Italiana.

But a complicating factor has emerged that will postpone Sensi’s move by a few days at least.

Sensi Move To Leicester Postponed By Calhanoglu & Barella Suspensions

Inter will be a bit light in midfield for their next match, a Serie A clash away to Fiorentina.

The Nerazzurri will be missing both Hakan Calhanoglu and Nicolo Barella for that match.

The former picked up yellow cards in both of the team’s Supercoppa Italiana matches. And then the latter went into the book yesterday in the final against Napoli.

Because both of Calhanoglu and Barella had been one match away from suspension, and yellow cards in the Supercoppa carry over to Serie A, both will be out for next Sunday’s match in Tuscany.

That means that two thirds of Inter’s first-choice midfield trio will be missing.

The Gazzetta anticipate that Kristjan Asllani and Davide Frattesi will take their place. Meanwhile, the ever-reliable Henrikh Mkhitaryan will also be in the team.

But beyond that, it will be necessary to have at least a couple senior midfield options on the bench.

One of them will be Davy Klaassen. But the Dutchman won’t be sufficient on his own.

Therefore, Inter will keep Sensi in the squad until that match. Then, the 28-year-old’s move to Leicester could go through.
