Inter Milan defender Stefan de Vrij feels that the Nerazzurri have only become hungrier to keep winning with their Supercoppa Italiana triumph.

The Dutchman spoke to Italian broadcaster SportMediaset, via FCInterNews, after the team’s victory in the Supercoppa final yesterday.

Inter got their hands on the Supercoppa Italiana for the third year in a row yesterday.

Having beaten Juventus and AC Milan in the prior two seasons, this time around the Nerazzurri beat Napoli. That followed a semifinal clash that had seen Inter dispatch Lazio.

This certainly comes as a boost to Inter’s confidence and morale.

And the team will certainly need it for what is to come.

The Nerazzurri’s next two matches will be absolutely decisive to regain their grip on the Serie A title race after Juventus went temporarily top of the table.

In less than two weeks, the Nerazzurri will face the Bianconeri directly.

And the league fixture list will hardly get easier from there.

Meanwhile, next month will also see Inter face Atletico Madrid in the first of two round of sixteen matches in the Champions League, a competition that Inter won last season.

Stefan De Vrij: Winning Supercoppa Only Increases Hunger

As far as the feeling of winning the Supercoppa, de Vrij said that “It’s always beautiful. It becomes more beautiful each time.”

“These are always beautiful feelings,” he continued.

“Before the match we had talked about the importance of being able to write another chapter in our history.”

And as far as whether he expected the kind of performance that Napoli put in, de Vrij said “Yes.”

“They are still the team who won the Scudetto last season,” the former Lazio defender continued.

De Vrij noted that “They have many great players.”

“And obviously they studied how we play as we did them.”

The Dtuchman added that “We had one less day of rest. Maybe we lacked a bit of freshness, but I think that in the end we deserved to win.”
