Former Juventus midfielder Leonardo Bonucci feels that Inter Milan’s Hakan Calhanoglu is one of the best midfielders in the world.

Speaking to Turkish newspaper Anadolu, via FCInterNews, the current Fenerbahce defender also predicted a title race between Inter and Juventus that can go down to the final day in Serie A.

Calhanoglu has emerged as one of the key players in this Inter side.

The 29-year-old has shifted from a box-to-box or attacking midfield role into a deep-lying one.

And this has gotten the best out of Calhanoglu’s characteristics.

The Turkish international has played a vital role in Inter’s buildup play.

And defensively, Calhanoglu has grown in terms of his positioning as well as his ability to make tackles.

The sense is that Calhanoglu is even better suited to his current position than he had been to other roles that he has played on the pitch.

Bonucci: Hakan Calhanoglu One Of The Best Midfielders In The World Right Now

“We spoke two or three months ago,” Bonucci said of Inter midfielder Calhanoglu.

“He’s one of the best midfielders in the world at the moment,” the former Italian international continued.

And then, the 36-year-old also gave his prediction regarding the Serie A title race.

He argued that “Juventus could have a slight advantage over Inter in the title race because of the fact that they don’t have the Champions League as a distraction.”

Bonucci added that he expects “It will be a title race that goes down to the last day.”

Inter and Juventus meet at the start of next month.

The two teams are separated by only one point right now. The Bianconeri are ahead of the Nerazzurri slightly.

However, Inter have a game in hand, against Atalanta, so they could regain their two-point gap at the top of the table.
