Inter Milan are working on finalizing the few remaining knots before securing the services of Mehdi Taremi.

The 31-year-old is currently running on an expiring contract. Thus, he will leave Porto at the end of the season and sign for a new club as a free agent.

For their part, the Nerazzurri have been lurking since the summer.

While a deal never materialized in August due to Porto’s asking price, Inter never abandoned their pursuit of Taremi, reveals FcInter1908.

The Serie A giants eventually had to resort to alternative options – namely Marko Arnautovic and Alexis Sanchez – but they remained keen on luring the Iranian to Appiano Gentile at some point.

In recent weeks, Inter have made an important breakthrough in their negotiations with the player’s entourage. Most major Italian news sources now expect the striker to join Simone Inzaghi’s ranks ahead of next season.

As FcInter1908 tells it, the two parties are now ironing out the final details before reaching the finish line.

Inter Milan Working On Finalizing Their Agreement With Mehdi Taremi

The source adds that a meeting took place today at the club’s headquarters at Viale della Liberazione between Inter officials and intermediaries working on the deal.

The report believes that the path is now clear for the Nerazzurri to strike a full agreement with the Porto striker.

This season, Taremi has thus far contributed with six goals and four assists across all competitions for the Dragoes.

He’s currently in Qatar, spearheading Iran’s charge in the AFC Asian Cup. He scored a brace in his most recent outing against UAE, securing his nation’s place on top of Group A.
