The agent of Lautaro Martinez has made clear that there is not yet an agreement on a new contract with Inter Milan.

Speaking to Italian outlet Top Calcio, via FCInterNews, the Nerazzurri captain’s agent Alejando Camano stated that the 26-year-old will not sign an extension until there is an offer equal to what he “deserves.”

By all accounts, Inter are working hard behind the scenes to secure Martinez’s long-term future with a new deal.

The Argentine’s contract currently runs out at the end of June 2026. So it is not as though that date is imminent or anything.

But the Nerazzurri want to have Martinez put pen to paper on a new deal.

This would naturally include a significant pay raise for the 26-year-old.

Inter want to send a clear “hands off” message regarding their captain, who would certainly be a target for a number of top European clubs should he be available on the transfer market.

And reports have suggested that Inter are aiming to make the extension official very soon – as early as this month.

But Martinez’s agent has cautioned that the negotiations still have some way to go.

Agrent Of Lautaro Martinez: Contract Extension With Inter Not Done Yet

Martinez’s agent Camano said that “The parties are working to find an agreement that makes both Lautaro and Inter happy.”

“If you ask me if there’s an agreement, I’d say no.”

“We’re working on making it possible, we want to get there,” the agent continued.

Camano said that “We’re calm. He has two years left on his contract, and there’s absolutely calmness.”

“Lautaro is happy at Inter and is playing to win trophies both in Italy and in Europe.”

“The contract talks don’t only have to do with the love Inter has for him, and he has for Inter,” Camano cautioned.

“But he’s a working professional,” he continued. ‘And we have to work in the right way to find an agreement.”

Asked if the reason that no agreement has yet come relates to wages, Martinez’s agent said that “I don’t have to talk about this as his agent and as a professional.”

“But what the Inter fans need to know is that he’s happy at Inter.”

“If we have to extend an agreement with the club, both of us must be happy.”

Camano argued that “Today, Lautaro is among the top three centre-forwards in the world.”

“My player is an Inter player. And look at his goals, his contribution to Italian football.”

“A team from abroad can offer a lot,” Martinez’s agent said.

“Lautaro is at Inter because he likes being at Inter,” Camano continued.

“And you can see when he scores, the way he looks at the fans.”

“My job is to reach an agreement so that he can do his job as best as possible.”

Lautaro “Only Thinking About Inter”

Camano said of Martinez that “His situation at Inter is very happy.”

“We’re only thinking about Inter,” he went on.

“We don’t have an agreement, but we’ll see if we can come to one in talk.”

“We have a very good relationship with the club. And the player has a very good relationship with the everyone around the world of the Nerazzurri.”

“Lautaro is the captain of Inter,” Camano said. “If you’re captain at 26 years old, it’s a great source of satisfaction.”

“He doesn’t think about any other possibility other than Inter,” the agent said of Martinez.

“But what matters is having an agreement that allows him to be calm, and that reflects the value he has to Inter and to Italian football.”

“Today he is 100% an Inter player,” Camano made clear.

“But if you ask me if there’s an agreement on the contract extension, I will tell you the truth. No.”

“But we’re working on it,” Martinez’s agent.

Camano added that “He calls me from all over the world, every day.”

“But he isn’t listening to any other offers, because he’s only focusing on Inter.”
