Former Inter Milan and Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Stephan Dalmat feels that Marcus Thuram has been an “extraordinary” signing for the Nerazzurri.

The Frenchman spoke to Italian news outlet Magazine Pragma, suggesting that he always knew his countryman would be able to exceed expectations after joining Inter on a free transfer.

Thuram has already scored ten goals and made seven assists for Inter.

That works out to more than a goal contribution every other game for the 26-year-old. He has appeared in 29 matches for the Nerazzurri so far.

Thuram also contributes far more than just what he does in and around the penalty area.

The Frenchman has proven highly effective at linking up with teammates.

In particularly, Thuram has formed a very strong partnership with Inter captain Lautaro Martinez.

The pair always seem to know where each other are on the pitch. And their movement tends to complement one another, in terms of opening up spaces and given the two of them the best chances to get into goalscoring positions.

Only the most optimistic expectations would have had Thuram making this much of an impact so quickly.

Certainly, Inter expected that the Frenchman would be able to slot into the team.

But considering that Thuram had never played in Serie A before, and was adjusting to a new team, tactical system, and position on the pitch, many expected one or two early difficulties.

But not Dalmat.

Dalmat: Marcus Thuram An “Extraordinary” Signing For Inter

Dalmat said that “I suggested the Nerazzurri sign him in the last January transfer window.”

“Then they managed to get him for free in the summer.”

The former midfielder said of Thuram’s signing that “It was an extraordinary coup for them.”

“Many were skeptical because they didn’t know him.”

“But I had watched him in Germany and with the French national team,” Dalmat continued.

“And I knew that he could be a suitable player for Inter.”

“The first part of the season was encouraging,” Dalmat wenr on.

“And he still has a good margin for improvement. He will be a great player for Inter.”
