Defender Alessandro Bastoni could start for Inter Milan in tomorrow evening’s Serie A match away to Fiorentina.
This according to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, via FCInterNews. Sky report that it could be Francesco Acerbi who gets a rest rather than the 24-year-old.
Bastoni is one player who hasn’t been expected to start in tomorrow evening’s match at the Stadio Artemio Franchi.
The reason for this is that the former Parma and Atalanta defender has been dealing with a muscle problem in his thigh which he picked up during the Supercoppa Italiana.
Bastoni had started in the semifinal against Lazio. But he came off during the second half of that match, and neither started nor came off the bench in the final against Lazio.
It was Acerbi who played on the left of Inter’s back three. De Vrij played in the centre, and Benjamin Pavard on the right.
And reports over the past few days have suggested that that would once again be the starting back three against Fiorentina tomorrow evening.
However, Sky reports, Inter coach Simone Inzaghi is starting to reconsider.
Alessandro Bastoni Could Start For Inter Vs Fiorentina
According to Sky, Inzaghi is now starting to consider giving Bastoni the start tomorrow.
It would still be de Vrij starting in the middle of the defense, though.
Therefore, it would be Acerbi who would drop to the bench.
The 35-year-old former Lazio and Sassuolo defender would get a rest ahead of next weekend’s match against Juventus.
That would appear to be the main thing guiding Inzaghi’s decisions.
Considering the importance of next Sunday’s match, the Nerazzurri coach will want both Bastoni and Acerbi at their best. Therefore, he could hand out minutes based on that.
Meanwhile, Sky also report that Brazilian former Monza wingback Carlos Augusto is the favourite to start on the left flank tomorrow. He is ahead of Federico Dimarco in that respect.
