Former Inter Milan midfielder Radja Nainggolan expects Romelu Lukaku to eventually tell his version of the events regarding last summer’s infamous transfer saga.

The 30-year-old was delighted to rejoin the Nerazzurri in the summer of 2022 following an unpleasant year at Chelsea.

The striker spent his campaign on loan at the Giuseppe Meazza, and Inter were working on making his stay permanent over the summer.

However, the Beneamata management later found out that Lukaku was simultaneously negotiating a transfer to Juventus. The player also refused to answer calls from club officials and some of his Inter teammates.

While his move to Turin never saw the light, the bomber ended up joining AS Roma on loan from Chelsea.

For his part, Naiggolan is happy to see his compatriot plying his trade in the Italian capital. The 35-year-old midfielder himself enjoyed the best years of his career during his time at the Olimpico Stadium before failing to replicate his exploits at Inter,

The former Cagliari man insists that Lukaku must surely have his reasons for acting the way he did over the summer.

“I’m happy that Lukaku now plays for Roma. He’s a striker who can bag a large amount goals as he has proved thus far,” said Nainggolan in his interview with Sport Mediaset via FcInter1908.

“As far as I know him, if he chose to leave Inter, there was certainly a reason behind it.

“People continue to ask themselves why he behaved like that. However, sooner or later, I believe he will reveal the reasons for his choice. I’m also curious to hear his interpretation.”

Radja Nainggolan Is Certain Romelu Lukaku Had His Reasons To Snub Inter Milan

The former Belgium international identifies Inter as the Scudetto favorites and argues that they threw away the title last season.

“On paper, Inter are the favorites as they were last season when they squandered it.

“Nonetheless, they found a solid Napoli side. Luciano Spalletti is probably the coach that I enjoyed working with the most in my career.

“He adopts offensive and proactive football, just the way I like it.”
