The suspension of striker Arkadiusz Milik is sowing the seeds of a crisis in attack for Juventus in next Sunday’s match against Inter Milan.

This is highlighted in today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews.

Milik saw red in yesterday’s Serie A match between Juventus and Empoli.

The Polish international had initially only received a yellow card for his late tackle on Empoli striker Alberto Cerri.

But after VAR convinced referee Livio Marinelli to have a second look at the challenge on his monitor, the match official upgraded the challenge to a straight red card.

This was undoubtedly a factor in the fact that Juventus surprisingly dropped points.

There is of course no guarantee that the Bianconeri would have beaten relegation-battling Empoli with eleven men. But the numerical advantage certainly gave the Tuscans the initiative.

Arkadisuz Milik Suspension Puts Juventus Attack In Crisis For Inter Clash

The fact that Juventus dropped points right before next weekend’s Derby d’Italia was reason enough for Milik to regret his bad challenge and red card.

But it could have further ramifications.

Milik was starting yesterday evening’s match partly because the options were limited for Juventus coach Max Allegri.

The Bianconeri boss did not have Federico Chiesa at his disposal. The Italian was out with injury.

And Moise Kean is on the verge of joining Atletico Madrid.

So essentially, Allegri had Milik, Dusan Vlahovic, and young breakout talent Kenan Yildiz to choose from.

In the end, the Juventus coach went with two big strikers up front.

And the pairing of Vlahovic and Milik looked to be doing the job well enough. The duo looked as though they could play together.

But the expulsion of former Marseille, Napoli, and Ajax striker Milik left Vlahovic without a strike partner.

Naturally leading the line was that much harder for the Serbian international then.

And Vlahovic will also have to do without Milik’s help next Sunday. The 29-year-old’s red card will leave him unavailable through suspension.

With Chiesa’s return very doubtful, the Bianconeri could look thin on the ground in one week’s time.

And there would hardly be a worse match for this to be the case than next Sunday’s title showdown against Inter.
