Simone Inzaghi has no intention of sacrificing Inter Milan’s Champions League ambitions for the sake of the Serie A title race.

This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews.

It is no secret what Inter’s priority for this season is.

The Nerazzurri are fighting for the Serie A title. Inzaghi himself made clear that that was the aim at the start of the season.

The Scudetto is something that Inter have not won since the 2021-22 season.

And it is a prize which Inzaghi has yet to get his hands on, either as Inter or as Lazio coach.

That has been by far the biggest blot on the copybook for the Nerazzurri in the past couple seasons.

In cup competitions, Inter have been nearly flawless.

Inter have won the past three editions of the Supercoppa Italiana. And they won the Coppa Italia in Inzaghi’s first two seasons, before crashing out early this time around.

But the early exit from the Coppa didn’t necessarily sting all that much – because everyone seems to know that the Serie A title is the real prize.

Simone Inzaghi Won’t Let Go Of Inter Champions League Ambitions For Serie A

Perhaps the biggest accomplishment of Inzaghi’s tenure at Inter to date was reaching last season’s Champions League final.

The Nerazzurri defied expectation to reach that final. And then they further defied them by going toe-to-toe with heavy favourites Manchester City, even though they lost by a narrow 1-0 margin.

Reaching that final has certainly given Inter a new injection of confidence and maturity.

And the team have been applying that to the league, where they currently lead the way in the table.

Some have suggested that, having made it to the Champions League final last time around, Inzaghi’s priority would be to focus on the league this campaign.

And it is certainly true that Inter are making the league title a priority.

But Inzaghi wants to balance that with European ambitions.

With a Champions League round of sixteen tie against Atletico Madrid just three weeks away, Inzaghi still senses the opportunity to follow up on last season’s heroics.
