Inter Milan have released their Champions League squad on Friday night, and it includes January signing Tajon Buchanan.
The Nerazzurri comfortably secured their post in the knockout stages, earning qualification with two matches in hand. Yet. they still finished second in their group behind Real Sociedad.
The Round of 16 draw pitted them against Atletico Madrid and their longtime serving manager Diego Simeone who plied his trade at Inter Milan during his playing days.
But before resuming their European campaign on February 20th, the Serie A giants had to send their official knockout-stage squad to UEFA.
Inter Milan have revealed the list through an announcement published on the club’s official website.
While he’s yet to make his debut for the club, Buchanan got the nod.
Simone Inzaghi naturally decided to include the Canadian international who arrived last month as a replacement for the injured Juan Cuadrado.
This explains why the club cut the Colombian veteran from the squad. The 35-year-old won’t be available for several months as he continues his rehabilitation process after undergoing surgery.
Moreover, Stefano Sensi also didn’t make the cut.
The Italian was on the cusp of finalizing a deadline-day move to Leicester City last night. However, the English club failed to put the deal over the line in due time.
Inter Milan Announce Champions League Knockout Stage List
The 28-year-old was already out of the Champions League group stage list, so this decision shouldn’t come as a surprise.
All in all, Inzaghi’s European squad remains intact, with the lone exception being the introduction of Buchanan in Cuadrado’s stead.
