Inter Milan wingback Juan Cuadrado will likely leave in the summer following a single campaign at the club.

After spending eight years with arch-rivals Juventus, the Colombian completed a shocking switch to the Nerazzarri last summer.

The 35-year-old joined on a free transfer, signing a one-year contract.

Due to the player’s Black-and-White past and some of the Derby d’Italia incidents that he was involved in, Cuadrado’s arrival caused outrage among Inter supporters.

While he gradually managed to win the support of the fanbase, injury problems had the better of him this season.

A recurring Achilles tendon issue plagued his campaign. He eventually opted for surgical intervention to fix the problem once and for all.

After undergoing successful surgery, Cuadrado will remain out of action until late March or early April.

But even when he eventually returns to the squad, the veteran will find it hard to earn playing time.

As TuttoMercatoWeb tells it, the former Chelsea and Fiorentina man no longer has a place in Simone Inzaghi’s plans.

The Colombian initially arrived to serve as an understudy for Denzel Dumfries in the right wingback slot.

Inter Milan Likely To Release Juan Cuadrado At The End Of The Season

But at the moment, the competition for this particular place has become sterner with Matteo Darmian currently holding the starting role.

Moreover, Tajon Buchanan arrived in January as a direct replacement for the injured Cuadrado, further pushing the latter towards the exit door.

Therefore, the former Juventus man has become surplus to requirements at Appiano Gentile. He will most likely leave the club once his contract expires at the end of the season.

Cuadrado made seven Serie A appearances this term, all coming off the bench. He contributed with two assists against Fiorentina and Napoli
