Striker Marcus Thuram has been thriving under the pressure during his first season as an Inter Milan player.

Today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, highlight how the Frenchman is close to becoming the fifth player to hit double figures in Serie A in his first season at Inter during the three-points-for-a-win era.

Thuram is certainly a player who has hit the ground running over his first few months at Inter.

It is not as though expectations weren’t high when the Nerazzurr signed the French international.

Inter beat out the competition of teams like AC Milan and Paris Saint-Germain to secure Thuram’s signature.

And despite the 26-year-old having come in as a free transfer signing, his wages are hardly inconsiderable.

So Inter undoubtedly signed Thuram in the hopes that he could make an impact as a regular starter.

But for the former Borussia Monchengladbach to make just as much of an impact as he has done, has exceeded all but the most optimistic expectations.

Marcus Thuram Thrives Under Pressure At Inter

Thuram has already hit double figures in all competitions for Inter this season. He has ten goals between Serie A, the Champions League, and the Supercoppa Italiana.

Meanwhile, the Frenchman is on eight goals in Serie A.

That means that, if Thuram can find the back of the net twice more in the league – something which seems very likely – he’ll hit double figures.

Only four other players have previously done this in their debut season for the Nerazzurri.

These were Youri Djorkaeff, Ronaldo, Samuel Eto’o, and Romelu Lukaku. This would hardly be bad company for Thuram to be in.

And as the Gazzetta note, Thuram has played with a “light-hearted” attitude under pressure that has allowed him to score key goals on the big occasion.

The 26-year-old has found the back of the net against all of AC Milan, Roma, Napoli, and Lazio in the league.

Meanwhile, Thuram got on the scoresheet against the Biancocelesti again in the Supercoppa Italiana. And scored the decisive goal against Benfica in the Champions League.

The Frenchman also grabbed a massive assist in November’s Derby d’Italia against Juventus.
