Fabio Capello believes that there is hardly a Serie A title race after Inter Milan demonstrated “clear superiority” over Juventus.

The former AC Milan, Juventus, Real Madrid, and England coach spoke to Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, analyzing the Derby d’Italia.

Prior to kickoff yesterday, there was a sense that the Serie A title was very much in the balance.

Inter may have had an advantage in the table. But one point with a game in hand was not much to hold onto.

However, after the match, the picture looks different.

The Nerazzurri now have a bit of a margin for error. The gap is four points now, with Inter still having their game in hand at home to Atalanta.

And for Juventus, there is a big missed opportunity to look back on. The Bianconeri failed to close the gap in a head-to-head clash.

And beyond the result, the nature of the performance suggested a real gap between the two teams in the Derby d’Italia.

Fabio Capello: Never A Doubt In Serie A Title Race Between Inter & Juventus

“The Scudetto race has never really been in doubt,” Capello argued.

“And yesterday we saw Inter’s clear superiority in quality and personality.”

As far as where he saw the Nerazzurri win yesterday’s match tactically speaking, Capello identified “In midfield.”

“Inter were dominant in the centre of the pitch,” the former coach noted.

“The greater quality of Calhanoglu and the other midfielders made the difference.”

Capello suggested that “The Nerazzurri have a very complete midfield. They can win the ball back, mack their technical quality count, and are dangerous in the final third.”

“The Bianconeri were also made to suffer by Dimarco on the left,” the former Rossoneri coach added.

“Inzaghi’s team also changed gear with their substitutions,” he noted.

“Confirming that they have a larger, superior squad on a technical level.”
