Napoli midfielder Piotr Zielinski will sign a pre-contract agreement with Inter Milan within the next day or two.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews.

Yesterday prior to Inter’s Serie A win over Juventus in the Derby d’Italia, Nerazzurri CEO Beppe Marotta was asked about whether the club are targeting Zielinski.

The executive’s response was not entirely forthright. But at the same time, he certainly did not deny the interest, citing Zielinski as a “transfer opportunity.”

And according to the Corriere, the reality is that behind the scenes, everything is ready for the Pole to commit his future to Inter.

The talks between Inter and Zielinski have been ongoing for weeks now.

Nothing has become official just yet. But within the next day or two, that will change.

Piotr Zielinski To Sign Inter Pre-Contract Agreement In Next Day or Two

According to the Corriere, the signature should arrive in the next 48 hours or so.

Inter and Zielinski have reached a full agreement on personal terms. Therefore, the former Udinese and Empoli midfielder will soon sign a pre-contract agreement.

Since the start of January, Zielinski has been free to openly negotiate with clubs other than Napoli regarding a summer transfer. His contract with the Partenopei runs out at the end of June.

Inter have already officially informed Napoli that there is an agreement with Zielinski and they intend to sign the 29-year-old.

The Corriere note that Zielinski is rejecting a contract extension offer from the reigning Italian champions worth €5 million net per season.

Napoli put that offer on the table as a last-ditch bid to convince the Pole after he rejected their initial offers.

But by then, Zielinski had evidently already made his decision.

The Polish international will make the switch to Inter. There was other interest, both in Serie A and from other leagues. But the 29-year-old wants Inter.

Zielinski will earn €4.5 million net per season at the Nerazzurri – less than Napoli’s final offer. However, he will receive a sign-on bonus, as well as have control of his image rights.
