Former Nerazzurri coach Andrea Stramaccioni feels that Roma have less to lose than Inter Milan in this weekend’s match.

The former coach spoke to Italian broadcaster DAZN, via FCInter1908, ahead of this Friday’s Serie A showdown at the Stadio Olimpico.

Inter travel to Rome this weekend for their second match of the season against Roma.

On paper, the Nerazzurri would surely be favourites.

Inter have been in imperious form for virtually the entire season. They have dropped just nine points in total all season.

And last Sunday’s victory over Juventus gave further confirmation to the idea that Inter are the outstanding team in the Italian top flight.

Moreover, the last time that the Nerazzurri and the Giallorossi squared of, it was the former who won.

The 1-0 scoreline doesn’t do justice to what was a fairly one-sided match in favour of Simone Inzaghi’s team.

Stramaccioni: Roma Have Less To Lose Than Inter

But Roma are at something of a crossroads in the past couple weeks.

Last month, the Giallorossi sacked coach Jose Mourinho after two and a half years at the helm.

The club from the Italian capital appointed legendary former midfielder Daniele De Rossi as the Portuguese’s successor.

And so far, there has been a response from the team on the pitch.

Roma have won each of their last two matches. These were De Rossi’s first two in charge.

Clearly, facing off against the league leaders will be a much bigger challenge for De Rossi and Roma than the club legend’s first couple of matches at the helm had been.

However, getting a win, or even a draw, would make for a big statement that the Giallorossi have found their feet again after a tough first half of the campaign.

And for Inter, there would be a bit of the opposite sentiment.

The Nerazzurri have all the pressure to keep their run going at the top of the table. They will be keen to build on the momentum of their win over Juventus.

And also aware of the fact that the Bianconeri are breathing down their necks with months still to go in the Serie A title race.

Former Inter coach Stramaccioni said that “Roma go into the match against Inter with the best possible atmospjhere.”

“De Rossi’s team are putting together the kind of football they want to. And they’ve gotten off to the best possible start.”

“They certainly have less to lose than Inter,” Stramaccioni said.

“In a great stadium with a big crowd, players like Dybala and Lukaku can cause problems for anyone,” he added.
