Former Bianconeri midfielder Massimo Mauro feels that while Inter Milan are a superior team to Juventus, the latter won’t give up in the Serie A title race.

Mauro gave his thoughts to Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport in an interview published in yesterday’s print edition, via FCInterNews.

The pitch seemed to tell a fairly clear story in Inter’s win over Juventus in the Derby d’Italia on Sunday.

The Nerazzurri didn’t just get the win and take the three points.

Inter went four points clear at the top with a game in hand by playing very emphatic football.

Despite the scoreline being just 1-0, Inter had other good chances to score. And at the other end, the Bianconeri created little, barring a couple of counterattacking chances.

Mauro: Inter Superior, But Not Giving Up Is Juventus DNA

Now both the head-to-head matches between Inter and Juventus are out of the way.

The Nerazzurri have their fate entirely in their own hands.

And the fact that Inter have both the best defensive and attacking records in Serie A would certainly seem to bode well for their ability to see out their advantage over the rest of the season.

However, that doesn’t mean that Juventus won’t try and capitalize on any slip-ups.

The Bianconeri may not have played football as dominant as Inter’s for much of the season.

But, despite the last couple of weeks, Juventus have shown that they can find ways to win.

Former Juventus and Napoli midfielder Mauro remarked that “Never giving up is in Juve’s DNA.”

“We’re still in February,” he said. “There’s still a long way to go.”

“Now the fate of the Scudetto is in Inter’s hands,” Mauro said.

“They showed in the head-to-head match that they have backups as good as the starters.”

“If I were Juve right now, I wouldn’t be focused on the fixture list or on Inter having the Champions League,” Mauro added.

“I’d focus on the anger built up at San Siro. And on the club’s DNA.”
