Legendary former AC Milan coach Arrigo Sacchi believes Inter Milan and Simone Inzaghi are continuing to evolve.

The ex-Rossoneri manager spoke to Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport in an interview published in yesterday’s print edition, via FCInterNews.

Inter and Inzaghi got yet another statement result over the weekend.

The Nerazzurri beat Roma 4-2 to extend their lead at the top of the Serie A table to seven points.

It was not necessarily the most emphatic performance over ninety minutes.

In the first half, the Nerazzurri had to weather a Roma onslaught, as they were overrun in midfield at times, and went into the interval a goal behind, not undeservedly.

However, in the second half, it was the same Inter who have been on show for much of the Serie A season.

It barely took the Nerazzurri ten minutes to equalize and then restore their advantage.

Moreover, it was a stylish performance, even in rain-sodden conditions against very aggressive, confident opposition.

Inter strung the passes together briskly to break down the Roma defense. And they made that good play count with goals from Marcus Thuram and an Angelino own goal.

Sacchi Praises Inter & Inzaghi: “Strength, Experience, Technique”

Former Milan coach Sacchi said that “I’d suggest three words that perfectly define this Inter: Strength, experience, technique.”

“I could add others, but I believe that the meaning of Simone Inzaghi’s team lies above all in those three terms.”

The former coach noted that “Against Roma, at the Olimpico in an away match that was far from simple, they gave a great demonstration of compactness, maturity, and a spirit of sacrifice.”

“That strength, experience, and technique – combined with a style of play under Inzaghi that has gradually become more European – has made the difference,” Sacchi continued.

“Now people will start saying that they’ve already taken half the Scudetto with that win,” Sacchi noted.

“I’d wait, because I’ve learned from experience that anything can happen in football.”

“There will still be tough moments that they have to navigate,” the former coach suggested.

Sacchi argued that “I’m convinced that if Inter keep going on this path, then they can achieve their goals both domestically and in Europe.”

“Simone Inzaghi, in this most recent period, has made notable steps forward,” he argued.

“Initially, he was more of just a tactician. But now, he’s the kind of strategist that one needs to be in order to win the European Cup.”
