It’s “Mission Wembley” for Inter Milan as the Nerazzurri believe they can go on another Champions League run.

Today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews, highlight the Nerazzurri’s sky-high ambition now that Europe’s top club competition is back.

Inter will immediately face a huge test when their Champions League knockout rounds campaign begins.

The Nerazzurri host Atletico Madrid at the San Siro in the round of sixteen one week from today. That match will pit them against an opponent stronger than just about any domestic rival they’ve faced.

And then, the second leg in Madrid could be even tougher.

But Inter have already seen off ties like this before. The Nerazzurri knocked the likes of Porto, Benfica, and AC Milan out of the competition last season.

And in the group stage, Inter saw off Barcelona.

This is a Nerazzurri side with European experience and confidence, and they won’t consider themselves underdogs against Atletico or anyone.

Inter Begin “Mission Wembley” Vs Atletico Madrid In Champions League

If Inter can get past Atletico over two legs, then they will really start to believe.

The Nerazzurri will have a lot of tough potential opponents in the next round.

Teams like Manchester City and Real Madrid looked like truly formidable obstacles. Meanwhile, a Premier League side like Arsenal have been growing more and more virtually by the month.

But Inter have already been in this position.

Last season, Inter faced City in the final. And despite the English giants prevailing by a 1-0 scoreline, it was about as even of a final as the competition has seen in recent years ago.

Two season ago, meanwhile, Inter went toe-to-toe with Real in both of their group stage matches, even if they went on to lose both.

Later that campaign, Inter put in an impressive showing against eventual finalists Liverpool, even winning at Anfield despite a defeat on aggregate.

This is not an Inter team who feel out of place in Europe’s top club competition.
