Not just battling on the pitch, Inter Milan have signed Tajon Buchanan and Mehdi Taremi ahead of Atletico Madrid.

Spanish outlet Marca, via FCInterNews, highlight how the Nerazzurri are “2-0” ahead in the transfer market against their Champions League opponents for tomorrow.

Now, all, the focus is on the pitch.

In just over 24 hours, Inter and Atletico will face one another in the Champions League round of sixteen.

But off of the pitch, the two clubs are always busy. Both are pursuing their objectives in the transfer market to strengthen on the pitch.

And Marca note how in recent months, it has been Inter who have prevailed in signing a couple of players ahead of the Colchoneros.

Inter Sign Buchanan & Taremi Ahead Of Atletico Madrid

One player who Marca note that Atletico had been keen on for some time is Canadian international Buchanan.

Buchanan had faced Atletico twice in the Champions League, when he was a Club Brugge player.

And the performances by the Canadian made an impression on the Spanish giants.

So much so that the Colchoneros have long held an ambition of bringing Buchanan to the Spanish capital.

But of course, Atletico were not Buchanan’s only admirers.

Another team who had been tracking the 25-year-old for well over a year were Inter.

The Nerazzurri viewed Buchanan as having the perfect profile to slot in at wingback in the 3-5-2 system of coach Simone Inzaghi.

And just over one month ago, Inter sealed a deal to sign Buchanan from Brugge. The Nerazzurri paid a fee of €7 million plus add-ons – more than Atletico would have been willing to consider.

Then, another player who Atletico had been keen on, according to Marca, was Iranian international striker Taremi.

The Colchoneros were well aware of the 31-year-old’s expiring contract at Porto. They regarded him as a possible free transfer opportunity.

But once again, it was Inter who did the legwork to make a deal happen for Taremi.

The Iranian has yet to put pen to paper on a deal with Inter. But it is only a matter of time before he commits his future and then joins next summer.
