Nerazzurri Corporate CEO Alessandro Antonello has confirmed that there is an upcoming meeting between Inter Milan and the Mayor of Milan regarding the stadium, but affirmed Rozzano as the club’s priority.

The Nerazzurri executive spoke to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, via FCInterNews.

The last few weeks have seen continuing uncertainty and debate regarding the stadium situation of Inter and AC Milan.

By all accounts, the clubs are moving definitively in the direction of building new stadiums outside the city of Milan proper, in the greater metropolitan area.

And Inter Corporate CEO Antonello confirms this.

But at the same time, there have been some developments.

A big one concerns a reported outreach by Milan towards Inter. The Rossoneri have reportedly floated the idea of building a new stadium together in the San Donato area.

Reports suggest that Inter are very cool on that idea.

The Nerazzurri have been pursuing plans in the commune of Rozzano.

Meanwhile, the city of Milan are working on plans to modernize and refurbish the San Siro.

Milan Mayor Beppe Sala has intimated that his hopes that at least one of the clubs could potentially stay in the stadium. And the Mayor has said that he plans to speak to the clubs.

Antonello Confirms Inter To Meet With Milan Mayor – But Stresses Rozzano The Priority

Antonello confirms that the plan is to meet with Sala.

“The latest update is that we have been officially summoned by the mayor for Thursday,” the Inter executive said.

“We imagine that the agenda for the meeting will be to discuss the recent developments [regarding the renovation of the San Siro]. A discussion we were not involved in.”

“We are feeling a bit disoriented by this,” Antonello added. “Because in the last few years, the path has always been linear and concrete.”

The Nerazzurri Corporate CEO noted that “Our idea was to have a joint stadium with Milan in the San Siro area.”

“Then the situation changed. And our paths diverged.”

“Today there is a new opportunity that the administration has put on the table,” Antonello said.

“But clearly we’ll want to be able to evaluate it. Because at the moment our priority is to continue working on the Rozzano project, which offers us a concrete possibility.”

“We’re working with our advisors to assess things.”

“The period in which we have the exclusive right [on a feasibility study in Rozzano] ends in April,” Antonello noted.

“We will attend this meeting with the Mayor,” Antonello said. “Listening, and trying to understand the options that are on the table.”
