This means that Inter finish the weekend with their nine-point advantage over the Bianconeri intact. And that is with a game in hand.

Inter are certainly not mathematically guaranteed of anything just yet.

There are still three months to go in the league. And plenty of opportunities to slip up.

Inter have the bitter experience of the 2021-22 season, when they dropped off in the league in the spring to allow Milan back into the title race to think about.

But that appears to be exactly why the Nerazzurri look so determined not to take their foot off the gas just yet.

Even with a significantly rotated team, Inter threw everything at Lecce to take three more points yesterday.

This Inter team seem to sense the opportunity to create an even more decisive advantage for themselves.

And this could allow the team to focus completely on the Champions League.

As long as the title race with Juventus is in Inter’s mind, the team will not be able to completely pivot to their European adventure.

But the closer Inter get to mathematically securing the Scudetto, the more they can really start to think about another deep run in the Champions League as the priority.
