Simone Inzaghi is “enormously pleased” with how Inter Milan played against Lecce despite a raft of changes to the lineup.

The Nerazzurri coach spoke to InterTV after the 4-0 Serie A victory yesterday evening, via FCInterNews.

Inzaghi decided to make a number of changes to the starting eleven in yesterday’s match.

In total, there were seven different players in the lineup compared to the team that started against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League in midweek.

But it mattered little. Inter found a way to not just win, but do so by an emphatic scoreline.

Particularly in the first part of the second half, the Nerazzurri overwhelmed Lecce.

And for his part, Inzaghi has nothing but positive things to say about how his players did. Even without a number of regular starters on the pitch.

Inzaghi “Enormously Pleased” With Rotated Inter Performance Vs Lecce

After the match, Inzaghi remarked that “We knew that it was a match with potential pitfalls.”

“We started the match well and then did well to take the lead.”

“Then in the second half, we conceded little except a couple headers. And then went 2-0 up, and got a result that helps us keep on our path.”

Inzaghi noted that “For a coach to make 7-8 changes and see the team play like that, I’m enormously pleased.”

“We have to keep going without looking at the statistics,” he added.

The coach noted that “We have to stay focused because the journey is still long.”

Meanwhile, Inzaghi also commented on the performance by Alexis Sanchez, who started the match in attack.

“The only flaw on his evening is that he didn’t score,” the coach said.

“He played an extraordinary match. But there were never any doubts, as with Arnautovic against Atletico Madrid.”

“There are players who haven’t played much. But they’re still great players, and can give us a lot.”
