Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi intends to remain at the club, but he’s also looking to do so on his own terms.

The 47-year-old joined the club in 2021 as a replacement for Antonio Conte. While things haven’t always gone smoothly for the tactician, he has now become one of Europe’s most sought-after managers.

The Piacenza native has been guiding the Nerazzurri in what is unraveling as one of the most spectacular campaigns for the club in recent memory.

Inter currently lead the Serie A charts by 12 points. They also boast the best attack and best defense in Europe’s Top Five leagues.

Therefore, Inzaghi now finds himself in a prime position to negotiate a renewal on his own terms.

According to Tuttosport via FcInterNews, the Italian is eager to stay at Appiano Gentile despite Premier League interest. The source names Manchester United in particular.

Nevertheless, the Nerazzurri management will have to satisfy his demands.

As the source explains, the upcoming renewal will be different from the last one which seems to have been a direct reward for reaching the Champions League final in Istanbul.

At the time, he signed a new deal until 2025 and currently earns 5.5 million euros as net wages per year.

This time, the hierarchy is hellbent on maintaining the coach’s services.

Thus, the Turin-based newspaper believes Inzaghi won’t accept another one-year extension. Instead, he’ll ask for a contract that runs until 2027, similar to the club’s top officials.

Moreover, the former Lazio boss will ask for better recognition for his staff. He feels that his technical collaborators were unjustly treated when the results went south last season.

Finally, Inzaghi will ask the club’s ownership to maintain his team’s core after watching his squad getting completely revamped last summer.

Thanks to the club’s improved finances, the upcoming transfer session could be less traumatic for the manager.
