Gianluca Di Marzio believes that Piotr Zielinski can become a “reference point” for Inter Milan when he joins from Napoli.

The Sky Sport Italia transfer market expert spoke about what he expects from the Pole following his transfer to the Nerazzurri, via FCInter1908.

Nothing is truly official regarding Zielinski’s move to Inter.

But it seems to be all but set in stone that the 29-year-old will be wearing the Nerazzurri shirt at the start of the season.

Zielinski has decided to reject Napoli’s offer of a new contract to join Inter.

In some ways, the move is about as logical as transfers get.

Zielinski has been one of Serie A’s outstanding midfielders for the past number of seasons, and Inter are one of the teams most competitive for trophies domestically and in Europe.

But in other respects, there are questions marks.

The biggest one concerns what sort of role Zielinski will have at Inter.

The Nerazzurri play with a particular system that places specific demands on the midfielders. And the players already in the squad have become highly adept at playing in that system.

Di Marzio: Piotr Zielinski Will Become “Reference Point” For Inter Milan

For his part, though, Sky transfer market expert Di Marzio believes that Zielinski has exactly the kinds of qualities necessary to really fit into the formation of Inter coach Simone Inzaghi.

Di Marzio noted that “It won’t be easy to become a key player for Inter.”

“Already last summer, when Inter bought Frattesi, we all thought he would be a starter,” the Sky transfer expert observed. “After all, they paid 35 million for him.”

“But instead, he hardly ever starts for Inter, who have one of the strongest midfields in Europe.”

“It won’t be easy for Piotr to take the place of Mkhitaryan, Barella, or Frattesi, who will have more playing time next season,” Di Marzio predicted.

“But he will be able to carve out his role with his usual elegance.”

“He will become a valuable point of reference for Inzaghi,” the Sky expert anticipated.

“Who’ll know that he has a player who’s effective, who always does his job, and who rarely misses a match.”

“A player who Inter can always count on.”
