Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi feels that facing Genoa is an “important” match, and anticipates a positive Alexis Sanchez performance.

The Nerazzurri coach gave his thoughts to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, via FCInterNews, ahead of the Serie A encounter.

Today, Inter take on Genoa in Serie A.

The Grifone are one of only four teams to take points off of the Nerazzurri this season. So Inter will certainly not be underestimating their opposition.

But if Inter can come away with the win, that will be their twelfth in 2024.

The Nerazzurri have not yet failed to win a match in any competition since the turn of the year.

Moreover, a victory against Genoa would mean that Inter would go a whopping fifteen points clear at the top of the Serie A table. I would be one more big step towards the Scudetto.

Inzaghi Expects “Important” Match Vs Genoa, Positive Performance From Alexis Sanchez

“We know that this will be an important match for us,” Inzaghi said before kickoff.

“We’re coming into it off the back of an excellent match against Atalanta,” he continued.

“Tonight we’ll need to stay switched-on. We’re facing a team who have lost just one match in their last twelve, against the Orobics [Atalanta.]”

As far as the availability of striker Marcus Thuram and defender Francesco Acerbi, both of whom are on the bench this evening, Inzaghi updated on the pair’s fitness after injury returns.

“Thuram has completed the last two training sessions,” the Inter coach explained.

“And Acerbi only had the session yesterday.”

“But they both had good training sessions,” Inzaghi said.

And regarding forward Alexis Sanchez, who starts in attack this evening, the Nerazzurri coach said that “We’ve been very happy with what we’ve seen from Sanchez.”

“I expect a great performance from him this evening, as with all his teammates.”
