Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi feels that Alexis Sanchez and Marko Arnautovic will be “fundamental” in the team’s Serie A title pursuit.

The coach spoke to Italian broadcaster InterTV, via FCInterNews, after the Nerazzurri’s 2-1 win over Genoa. He praised the ex-Premier League veterans.

Both Sanchez and Arnautovic have had a big role to play in Inter’s last three Serie A matches.

With Marcus Thuram only returning this evening, the two veterans have gotten a lot of playing time.

Both Sanchez and Arnautovic have had clear backup roles for much of the season.

But it has always seemed inevitable that there would come a time when the pair would start to get called upon more and more.

Former Arsenal and Manchester United forward Sanchez started against Lecce, and then this evening against Genoa.

Meanwhile, it was Arnautovic who led the line along with Lautaro Martinez against Atalanta.

Inter have won each of their last three matches with Sanchez and Arnautovic starting.

And the duo will undoubtedly have to keep that level up. They will have plenty more chances to play as Inter’s fixture list becomes more and more congested due to the Champions League.

Inzaghi: Alexis & Arnautovic “Fundamental” For Inter In Serie A Title Charge

Inzaghi commented that “I’ve said on several occasions that Sanchez and Arnautovic were doing a lot for the team,”

“I’m happy for them because their goals mean more personal recognition,” the coach noted.

“But I’ve been saying for some time that they’ll be fundamental for us, and that they will be until the end of the season.”

Of reaching three hundred matches in Serie A as a coach, Inzaghi said that “I’m happy with what I’ve done and produced.”

“I’ve been at two great clubs in Lazio and Inter. And I’ve coached over four hundred matches including cup competitions.”

“I’ve always had the support of the clubs behind me,” Inzaghi added.
