Inter Milan young midfielder Kristjan Asllani will reportedly maintain his starting spot in this weekend’s encounter against Bologna.

Since he arrived at the club in 2022, the 21-year-old has found playing time hard to come by.

Even with Marcelo Brozovic gone, the Albanian still found himself behind Hakan Calhanoglu in the pecking, with the latter cementing himself as one of the finest playmakers in the world.

Nevertheless, with the Turkiye international out injured in recent weeks, Simone Inzaghi resorted to Asllani’s services. He started in his club’s last three matches.

The young midfielder has certainly made the best out of this opportunity.

He provided Lautaro Martinez with a fabulous assist in the 4-0 rooting of Lecce and also broke the deadlock on Monday against Genoa with a clinical strike.

So according to Tuttosport via FcInterNews, Asllani is looking likely to earn his fourth straight start despite Calhanoglu’s availability.

The Turkish star has now overcome his injury. He should earn a call-up for Saturday’s clash against Bologna.

Yet, the Turin-based newspaper still tips Asllani to start.

The source believes that Inzaghi will be encouraged to trust the young Regista once again following his recent exploits.

As for Calhanoglu, the report expects him to enter the pitch at some point during the second half.

This would allow the former AC Milan star to put some minutes in his legs before regaining his usual berth against Atletico Madrid.

Following the meeting against Bologna, the Nerazzurri will travel to the Spanish capital for a decisive second-leg clash in the Champions League Round of 16.

The Serie A leaders won the first leg by a single goal thanks to Marko Arnautovic’s late strike.
