Inter Milan captain Lautaro Martinez and defender Benjamin Pavard will get a rest against Bologna in this evening’s Serie A clash.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews. The newspaper anticipates that Marko Arnautovic and Yann Bisseck will start.

Inter will undoubtedly have one eye on the upcoming week already.

That is not to say that this evening’s match away to Bologna isn’t an important one for the Nerazzurri.

There is still work to be done in the Serie A title race. Inter will feel the need to not become complacent and let their level drop off because of their sizable advantage in the table.

Moreover, a victory over this high-flying Bologna team would make a big statement.

And the Nerazzurri have lost their last two away trips to the Stadio Renato Dall’Ara. There will be a certain desire to “avenge” those defeats.

But the fact is that Inter are fifteen points clear at the top. This is not a “must-win” match.

Meanwhile, the second leg of the Champions League round of sixteen tie against Atletico Madrid on Wednesday is a finely-poised knockout match.

Lautaro Martinez & Benjamin Pavard To Be Rested Vs Bologna

With all of this in mind, the Gazzetta report that Inter coach Simone Inzaghi intends to keep a couple key players out of the starting eleven this evening.

One will be captain Lautaro Martinez.

The Argentine rarely drops out of the lineup. He has started in Inter’s last three matches whilst Marcus Thuram has been recovering from an injury.

But Martinez will get a rest from the first minute this evening.

Marko Arnautovic will take the captain’s place in the lineup.

Meanwhile, the Gazzetta report, defender Pavard will also get a rest.

The Frenchman will drop out of the lineup in the back three as Alessandro Bastoni returns from suspension.

Starting on the right in Pavard’s place will be Germany Under-21 international Bisseck.
