Simone Inzaghi feels that Bologna showed their quality yesterday, but Inter Milan deserved their win based on their first half performance.

The Nerazzurri coach spoke to Italian broadcaster RAI Radio, via FCInterNews, after the Serie A match.

Inter kept their Serie A winning streak alive yesterday at the Stadio Renato Dall’Ara.

The Nerazzurri made it ten wins in the league, and thirteen in all competitions, since the start of 2024.

It was never going to be easy for Inter. Bologna have become one of Serie A’s most formidable away trips under Thiago Motta.

And that is how it proved.

In the second half in particular, the Rossoblu dominated the ball. They patiently probed for openings to try and find the equalizer.

And Bologna did get in behind Inter on occasion, particularly the spaces behind the flanks.

But Inter bent without breaking defensively, never allowing a particularly telling opportunity to score for the high-flying Emilians.

Inzaghi: Bologna A Great Team, But Inter Excellent In First Half

Inter had to dig in their heels and suffer as a team in the second half.

But that came after a first half in which the Nerazzurri did what they had to do in order to win.

Inter showed why they are seemingly unstoppable in Serie A prior to halftime. And they did so on one of the toughest away pitches currently in the Italian top flight.

Inter’s incisive counterattacks, and ability to move the ball from one side of the pitch to the pitch to the other at pace, proved the necessary weapon to break down Bologna’s strong defensive structure.

Inzaghi said that “We played an excellent first half.”

“We could have even scored another goal,” the coach added.

“Then, in the second half Bologna came out and proved that they deserve to be where they are in the table. They’re an excellent team.”

The Inter coach said that “We made some errors technically with the ball.”

“We should have been cleaner in possession,” he continued.

Inzaghi noted that “The pressure from Bologna grew, and then obviously we had to sit deeper and deeper.”
