Yann Sommer feels that it’s “crazy” to play for the current Inter Milan team under “monster” coach Simone Inzaghi.

Speaking to the Copa TS podcast, via FCInterNews, the Swiss international also gave his thoughts on former Borussia Monchengladbach and current Inter teammate Marcus Thuram.

Sommer only joined Inter less than nine months ago.

But the 35-year-old has already made himself “part of the furniture” at the Nerazzurri.

Sommer has kept a remarkable record in terms of clean sheets with Inter this season.

Some of this is down to the work of the goalkeeper, who has made his share of outstanding saves this season. And a lot is down to the team in front of him.

Inter have been a defensively watertight unit, whilst at the other end they have scored in every single Serie A match this season.

Yann Sommer: “Crazy” To Play For This Inter Milan

“As a goalkeeper, it’s crazy to play behind a backline like this,” Sommer said.

“And then, if a player does manage to break through, then I try to do my job.”

“We work very well together as a team,” Sommer commented. “And then this is the result.”

“But still, sometimes when I look at the numbers, it’s shocking,” the 35-year-old admitted.

And the former Bayern Munich keeper attributed a lot of this success to his coach Simone Inzaghi.

“Inzaghi is a monster,” Sommer said.

“He’s very attentive to detail,” he continued. “He always aims to get the most out of us in each training session.”

And Sommer also gave his thoughts on striker Thuram, who joined Inter along with him in the summer.

“He was good at Gladbach,” the Swiss said of his current and former teammate. “Especially at the start.”

“After that, he lacked a bit of consistency.”

“I think he’s become more mature,” Sommer said of French international Thuram. “He’s worked a lot on himself and knows what’s important to do well in matches.”

Sommer was full of praise for Thuram, saying that “Having him in the team is a huge advantage.”
