Italian journalist Paolo Condo labels the Champions League exit of Inter Milan as a major disappointment for Italian football in general.

Serie A had three representatives in the Round of 16 of Europe’s elite club competition.

However, they were all sent packing before the quarter-finals. Lazio couldn’t build on a shocking first-leg victory in Rome, as they succumbed away at the hands of Bayern Munich.

For their part, Napoli suffered a 2-4 defeat on aggregate to Barcelona.

Nevertheless, Inter’s elimination against Atletico Madrid was arguably the biggest blow for the Italian football.

After all, the Nerazzurri have been on superb form since the start of the season, and have completely dominated the domestic landscape.

However, they fell short against Diego Simeone’s men who prevailed in penalty shootouts.

Therefore, Condo rues the club’s UCL dramatic elimination while arguing that the league’s biggest stars are failing to deliver in Europe.

“Inter’s absence from the Champions League quarter-finals is a big disappointment,” argues Condo during his appearance on Sky Sport Italia via FcInterNews.

“The biggest superstars in Serie A couldn’t produce the goods in Europe.

Paolo Condo Laments The Disappointing Champions League Exit Of Inter Milan

“They did not assert themselves like some of their counterparts who did brilliantly for the other qualified teams.

“I’m talking about the likes of Harry Kane, Robert Lewandowski and Antoine Griezmann himself.

“We talked about Lautaro Martinez and Marcus Thuram in Inter. But even Napoli stars Victor Osimhen and Khvicha Kvaratskelia went missing in Barcelona,” concluded the veteran journalist.
