Inter Milan went the distance in a Champions League tie for the first time ever against Atletico Madrid.
Prior to that round of sixteen second leg defeat, the Nerazzurri had never played extra time in the Champions League.
But a late Colchoneros goal forced the match to that. And Inter were ultimately bitterly disappointed as the Spanish team prevailed on penalties.
The Nerazzurri will not be moving on to the quarterfinals of Europe’s top club competition.
