Inter Milan could sign Lazio captain Ciro Immobile during the upcoming summer transfer window.

This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews.

One thing that now looks clear is that Inter will aim to head into next season with five senior strikers in their squad.

This time around there have been four. Lautaro Martinez, Marcus Thuram, Alexis Sanchez, and Marko Arnautovic.

The fact that even one injury can leave the team looking stretched in attack has been made clear to Inter’s directors.

Particularly since the fixture list next season will be even more intense due to expanded Champions League and Club World Cup formats.

That means that Inter are starting their search for another striker this summer.

What looks very clear is that Lautaro Martinez and Marcus Thuram will remain at the heart of Inter’s attack. And Mehdi Taremi should join the pair, on a free transfer from Porto.

But as far as the other two slots, things are less certain.

Alexis Sanchez is out of contract at the end of the season. And whilst Marko Arnautovic has another year to go on his deal, Inter could certainly listen to offers for the Austrian.

Inter Could Target Lazio Captain Ciro Immobile

One possibility for Inter would be bringing back Valentin Carboni.

The 18-year-old would have a similar profile to Sanchez, and is starting to find his feet on loan from Monza. So the Nerazzurri could integrate him into the first team after his loan ends.

Then there is versatile Genoa forward Albert Gudmundsson.

Inter would see the Icelander as an ideal replacement for Sanchez. But competition for Gudmundsson’s signature could see his price tag rise above 40 million.

Then, in terms of a very different sort of profile, there is Lazio captain Immobile.

The 34-year-old could very well leave the Biancocelesti this summer.

It has been a chaotic season for Lazio. And it is uncertain what sort of role Immobile will have in the project under incoming coach Igor Tudor.

One coach who Immobile did work with extremely well was Inter coach Inzaghi.

So there would be a clear logic in bringing in an experienced goalscorer like the Italian.

Tuttosport note that Immobile’s agent Marco Sommella was among the agents who Inter’s directors met while they were in Madrid for a Champions League tie against Atletico Madrid.

The agent would appear to have been probing the ground regarding the possibility of a move to Inter for Immobile.

The 34-year-old is currently under contract with Lazio until the end of June 2026. He earns 4 million net per season on his current deal.
