Henrikh Mkhitaryan is ahead of Davide Frattesi to start in midfield for Inter Milan against Napoli in Serie A this evening.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews.

Inter coach Simone Inzaghi is starting to firm up his plans for the starting eleven against Napoli this evening.

The Nerazzurri coach will certainly be aiming for a relatively strong lineup.

Even with the extremely up-and-down form that Napoli have shown this season, they are still reigning Italian champions and certainly have the quality to cause Inter problems.

But at the same time, Inzaghi certainly wants to freshen the team up somewhat.

During the week, Inter played an exhausting match against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League that went to extra time and penalties.

So the Nerazzurri coach will be very keen to avoid any sort of a “hangover” from that match.

Mkhitaryan Ahead Of Frattesi To Start For Inter Vs Napoli

One big decision could come in midfield, according to the Corriere.

Former Arsenal, Manchester United, and Borussia Dortmund veteran Mkhitaryan could keep his spot on the left of Inter’s midfield trio.

Mkhitaryan had started against Atletico on Wednesday. And the Armenian played out nearly the entirety of that match, including extra time.

Mkhitaryan had looked ragged as that match wore on, with Davy Klaassen eventually replacing the 35-year-old.

Therefore, there had been a fair bit of speculation that Mkhitaryan could drop out of the lineup for this evening’s match.

Davide Frattesi would be ready to replace the Armenian in the lineup.

The 24-year-old former Sassuolo midfielder had come on as a substitute against Atletico.

And Frattesi would certainly offer energy and legs in the Inter midfield.

But according to the Corriere, it is still Mkhitaryan who has the advantage to start against Napoli.
